Biography

Stanley is a MA student and Teaching Assistant (TA) in the UBC Department of History. His research interests include public and oral history, Southeast Asian history, and Asian Canadian history. As an ethnic Chinese who grew up in Kuala Lumpur, he is interested in the community engaged work INSTRCC is doing because he hopes to learn more about the local Chinese-Canadian community in Vancouver and apply his training as a historian for a good cause. Stanley has worked as a coordinator and Research Assistant (RA) on numerous projects for St. John’s College, the Institute of Asian Research, and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. He enjoys playing badminton, watching movies in theatres, and eating Malaysian food, especially Char Kuay Teow.
